Fire tested to support NCC Compliance

Share

Zipscreen offers a fire-tested outdoor shading system for multi-storey residential and commercial buildings, including strata-managed properties and retirement villages.

Tested to ISO 13785-1:2002 standards at Ignis Labs, Zipscreen can provide supporting evidence to prove the system can be used safely on Class 2 – 9 buildings when assessed as part of a Performance Solution, conducted by an engineering professional.

About our testing

Zipscreen underwent independent fire testing at Ignis Labs to ISO 13785-1 standards. The test involved a motorised Zipscreen system, with a Box 120 cassette, positioned approximately 100mm behind a glass balustrade to replicate a typical balcony setup. A gas burner was used as the flame source, exposing the system to high heat for an extended period.

The results

  • Fabric shrinks away from flames
  • Does not promote fire spread

In Summary

While “ISO-13785-1" testing does not provide a simple pass or fail outcome, it captures detailed observations of falling debris, smoke behaviour and temperature measurements. This testing report provides supporting evidence to show Zipscreen can be used safely on Class 2 – 9 buildings when assessed as part of a Performance Solution.

  • The assessment from Ignis supports a Performance Solution, it does not replace it.

  • There is no one size fits all solution available for products with combustible fabrics.

  • Each project must be assessed by a fire engineer to create a Performance Solution for your specific building.
